History of Camp Living Waters
Camp Living Waters was purchased by the United Brethren (U.B.) Church in 1967. The camp property, located in Luther, Michigan, is made up of 100 acres of woods and wetlands. This property is adjacent to state land and includes semi-private Stewart Lake (public access where our west property line falls). The first summer camp program was offered in 1968.
The 100 acre camp property is totally surrounded by the Pere Marquette State Forest. This location has given CLW numerous opportunities for programs beyond the camp property boundaries. These programs include backpacking, hiking, snowmobiling, and access to the Lake County ORV trail systems.
Since that time, the program has expanded into a year-round operation and now meets the needs of many churches, schools, and community groups. Our summer program for years has served youth camps – Junior/Junior High combined camps, High School camp and camps serving teens and adults with special needs. The camp has grown to include hosting rental groups and other CLW sponsored events for men, women, families, and youth. Wheels retreat was one popular addition- retreaters stage at the camp for weekends of ORV trail riding on the neighboring state trails. Our services also include: band camps, family camp, and individual church camps/retreats.
